Cricket Highlights, 10 Mar: RSWS T20 (Match 10), WI vs SL (1st ODI), AFG vs ZIM (2nd Test – Day 1)

The 10th match of the Road Safety World Series T20 2020-21 between Bangladesh Legends & Sri Lanka Legends, the first ODI between West Indies & Sri Lanka, and the 1st day of the 2nd Test between Afghanistan & Zimbabwe took place yesterday. Let’s have a look to know about the exciting moments of them.

RSWS T20 (2020-21) Match 10 (Bangladesh Legends vs Sri Lanka Legends)

An exciting match between Bangladesh Legends and Sri Lanka Legends in the 10th match of RSWS T20 (2020-21) was played at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium (Raipur) on Wednesday (March 10th) night. Sri Lanka Legends won by 42 runs against their opponent Bangladesh Legends.

Sri Lanka Legends won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off to a good start coming down to bat first. They lost one wicket in six overs of Powerplays and scored 43 runs. Upul Tharanga’s unbeaten innings of 99 off 47 balls helped Sri Lanka Legends to collect a big score of 180 runs. The wicket-keeper batsman had to leave the field with regret of one run. His colorful innings was arranged with 11 fours and 5 sixes. Chasing this huge target, Bangladesh legends lost six wickets and were bowled out for 136 runs by dint of spin magic from Sri Lanka Legends captain Tillakaratne Dilshan. Apart from Nazimuddin (54), no one else scored well to be described for Bangladesh Legends. Tillakaratne Dilshan (3-21, 4 overs) was the highest wicket-taker for Sri Lanka Legends.

After winning this match, Sri Lanka Legends has moved up to first place in the points table. On the other hand, Bangladesh Legends are still at the bottom of the points table with the third defeat in a row.

WI vs SL (1st ODI)

West Indies and Sri Lanka faced off in an exciting match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium (Antigua) in the first ODI of the series on Wednesday, March 10. West Indies won by 8 wickets against their opponent Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first and was bowled out for 232 by the West Indies bowlers. Opener batsman Danushka Gunathilaka (55) scored the highest runs for the team. Besides, Dimuth Karunaratne (52) and Ashen Bandara (50) scored well for the visitors to put up a respectable score in their innings. Jason Holder and Jason Mohammad took two wickets each for the hosts. 

Coming down to bat for the target of 233, two openers Evin Lewis and Shai Hope started to dominate the Lankan bowlers. Evin Lewis returned to the dressing room scoring 65 runs, but Shai Hope scored the tenth century of his ODI career before leaving the wicket. His innings of 110 off 133 balls was made up with 12 fours and 1 six. Based on his great innings, the West Indies lost two wickets and won the match with 3 overs to spare. The hosts went on to win the first one of the three-match series (1-0). The second match of the series will be played on March 12 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium (Antigua).

AFG vs ZIM (2nd Test – Day 1)

Afghanistan and Zimbabwe are playing in the second Test of the series from Wednesday morning, March 10 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan decided to bat after winning the toss and sent Zimbabwe to bowl. In the second over, opener Javed Ahmadi lost his wicket and returned to the dressing room, but Afghanistan did not break down. Later, Rahmat Shah’s run out broke the 50-run partnership for the second-wicket. Hashmatullah Shahidi then came on the wicket and formed a partnership with the opener Ibrahim Zadran. Zimbabwean bowler Ryan Burl broke their 65-run stand for the third wicket. The bowler sent Ibrahim Zadran back to the pavilion for a personal 72 runs in the mitt of Sikandar Raza. Hashmatullah Shahidi then teamed up with the captain Asghar Afghan. In the last session, Asghar Afghan picked up the first century of his Test career off 121 balls, hitting four off Victor Niauchi. Afghanistan ended the first day’s play with a decent total of 307 runs losing 3 wickets with Hashmatullah Shahidi (86*) and Asghar Afghan (106*) on the crease.
