BBL 2021/22 – Match 7 (Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Thunder)

In the 7th match of BBL 2021/22, Melbourne Stars have picked up a 4-run victory over Sydney Thunder at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. After losing the toss and choosing to bat first, the Stars lost 4 wickets in 20 overs and collected 165 runs.

For the Stars, Nick Larkin scored an unbeaten 52 off 43 balls. Hilton Cartwright scored 42 off 30 balls and Andre Russell scored 17 off 9 balls. For the Thunder, Tanveer Sangha took the most number of 2 wickets and Nathan McAndrew took 1 wicket.

Chasing a challenging target of 166 runs, the Thunder lost five wickets in the allotted 20 overs and their innings stopped at 161 runs. Thunder needed 11 runs in the last over to win. But the batsmen of the Thunder could not make more than 6 runs in the spin magic of Adam Zampa. As a result, the Stars got a great victory of 4 runs.

Matthew Gilkes scored the highest 56 runs for the team. Sam Billings scored 43 and Alex Ross remained unbeaten on 17 runs. Nathan Coulter-Nile took the maximum number of 2 wickets for 27 runs in 4 overs for the Stars. Adam Zampa, Qais Ahmad, and Brody Couch took 1 wicket each.

After winning this match, the Melbourne Stars have risen to 6th place in the points table. On the other hand, Sydney Thunder is in the 3rd position on the points table after the debacle.

AUS vs ENG (1st Test – Day 3)

Australia has bowled out England for just 147 runs in the first innings of the first Test of the Ashes series in Brisbane. In reply, Travis Head scored 152 runs alone. Australia was all out for 425 in the first innings, courtesy of David Warner’s 94-run innings.

The Aussies almost took control of the match from a big lead of 268 runs. But England turned around in the second innings. The visitors finished the third day with 220 runs for 2 wickets. However, they are still behind by 58 runs.

After Haseeb Hameed (27) and Rory Burns (13) returned to the dressing room, the captain Joe Root and Dawid Malan put on a great partnership of 159 for the third wicket. Root is unbeaten on 86 and Malan is unbeaten on 80, they will start the fourth day’s game for England.
