WI vs ENG (1st Test – Day 2)
The West Indies and England are standing at the same level at the end of the second day of the Antigua’s Test. The hosts Caribbeans are 109 runs behind after coming down to bat in their first innings after the visitors’ making 311 runs. England could not score more than 311 runs after Jonny Bairstow’s 140-run innings. In reply, West Indies lost 4 wickets and scored 202 runs at the end of the second day.
England started the second day’s game with 268 runs losing 6 wickets on Wednesday. From there, they were able to add another 43 runs. Bairstow was dismissed for 140 after scoring the eighth century of his career. Jayden Seales took the maximum number of 4 wickets with the ball for the West Indies. Kemar Roach, Alzarri Joseph, and Jason Holder took two wickets each.
Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell, two Caribbean openers, gave the team a good start after coming down to bat. 83 runs came in the opening pair. Campbell was out for 35 runs. Brathwaite made fifty off just 62 balls. This is the fastest Test fifty of his career. However, he got out for 55 runs.
After the departure of Shamarh Brooks (18) and Jermaine Blackwood (11), West Indies fell into danger and their scoreboard was 127 runs for 4 wickets. Nkrumah Bonner and Jason Holder did not allow any danger to happen from there. At the end of the day, the duo added 75 runs in 31.4 overs. Holder is unbeaten scoring 43 runs and Bonner is unbeaten on 34.
