Bangladesh won the fifth and final T20I match of the series by 60 runs against visiting Australia at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Monday. The Tigers have also snapped up the five-match T20I series 4-1.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first on the day. They lost 1 wicket in 6 overs of Powerplay and managed to pick up 46 runs. But then the Tigers started losing wickets at regular intervals in the Aussie bowling cannon. As a result, they could not make the team score too big. In the end, the hosts could make 122 runs by losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Mohammad Naim scored the highest 23 runs for the team. Nathan Ellis and Dan Christian took the most number of two wickets for the visitors.
Batting for the target of 123, Australia was bowled out for 62 in 13.4 overs by the Tigers, which is the lowest run-scoring event in their T20I history as well. Aussies lost 7 wickets to score the last 14 runs. Aussie captain Matthew Wade scored the highest runs for the team, he scored 22 runs and Ben McDermott scored 17 runs. Apart from these two, no other batsman has been able to reach double figures for the Aussies.
The world’s best all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan became the player of the match by bowling 3.4 overs and taking the maximum number of 4 wickets for Bangladesh conceding only 9 runs. Besides, Mohammad Saifuddin took 3 wickets, Nasum Ahmed took 2 wickets, and Mahmudullah took 1 wicket. Shakib Al Hasan has been awarded as the player of the series scoring 114 runs and scalping 7 wickets in 5 matches.
