Cricket Highlights, 08 Dec: BBL 2021/22 (Match 4), BBL 2021/22 (Match 5), BAN vs PAK (2nd Test – Day 5)

The 4th match of the BBL 2021/22 between Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes, the 5th match of the BBL 2021/22 between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat, and the 5th day’s game of the 2nd Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan rolled on the field yesterday. BBL 2021/22 – Match 4 (Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Sixers)

In the 4th match of BBL 2021/22, Sydney Sixers have secured a great victory of 14 runs against Hobart Hurricanes. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, the Sixers lost 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored 144 runs.

Skipper Moises Henriques played the top-scoring innings of 73 off 48 balls for the Sixers with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Besides, Tom Curran scored 27 runs off 21 balls. Thomas Rogers took 3 wickets for the Hurricanes and Nathan Ellis took 2 wickets for the Hurricanes.

Chasing the target of 145, the Hurricanes were bowled out for 130 in the allotted 20 overs by the brilliant bowling of the Sixers’ bowlers. Although the innings started well, the Hurricanes batsmen did not finish well. The Hurricanes’ team score became 68/2 to 78/5 due to the extraordinary bowling of the bowlers of the Sixers. Hurricanes could not return to the match after the collapse.

Hurricanes’ batter, Peter Handscomb, scored 47 off 31 balls. D’Arcy Short scored 21 runs, Matthew Wade and Caleb Jewell both played an innings of 20 runs. Tom Curran took the highest number of 3 wickets for 27 runs in 4 overs for the Sixers. Hayden Kerr also took 2 wickets.

The Sydney Sixers have risen to the top of the points table with their second win in a row after winning this match. On the other hand, Hobart Hurricanes are 6th in the points table after losing.

BBL 2021/22 – Match 5 (Perth Scorchers vs Brisbane Heat)

In the 5th match of BBL 2021/22, Perth Scorchers have got a triumph by 6 runs against Brisbane Heat at Perth Stadium in Perth. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Scorchers lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and scored 157 runs. 

For the Scorchers, Kurtis Patterson hit the maximum runs, he collected 55 off 30 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Laurie Evans scored 33 and captain Ashton Turner made 28 runs. Cameron Gannon took the most number of 2 wickets for the Heat.

Chasing the challenging target of 158 runs, the innings of the Heat’s stopped at 151 runs losing all the wickets in 19.5 overs. In the last over, the Heat’s needed 18 runs to win with 1 wicket in hand. But the batsmen of the Heat could not make more than 10 runs in the bowling cannon of Jason Behrendorff. As a result, Scorchers won by 6 runs.

Sam Heazlett and Xavier Bartlett, both top scorers for the team, both played innings of 34 runs, and Chris Lynn also scored 27 runs. For the Scorchers, Matthew Kelly took the maximum number of 4 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs, and Andrew Tye also took 2 wickets.

After winning this match, Perth Scorchers are in 3rd place in the points table. On the other hand, after losing two matches in a row, Brisbane Heat is now in the 7th position of the points table.

BAN vs PAK (2nd Test – Day 5)

Bangladesh cricket team lost seven wickets at the end of the fourth day and collected 76 runs, they came to the field on the morning of the fifth day with Shakib Al Hasan (23) and Taijul Islam (0) at the crease. The hosts could have avoided the follow-on if they scored only 101 runs. But in the aggressive bowling of Pakistani bowlers, Bangladesh got all-out after adding more than 11 runs in just 6 overs on the day.

Shakib scored the highest 33 runs for the hosts. Sajid Khan took the maximum number of 8 wickets for 42 runs in 15 overs for the visitors. Besides, Shaheen Afridi took 1 wicket.

Bangladesh fell under pressure after losing 4 wickets for 25 runs in the second innings. Mushfiqur Rahim (48) and Liton Das (45) brought the team back into the match. When Liton returned to the dressing room, Shakib Al Hasan took the team’s helm. Mehidy Hasan came on the wicket after the dismissal of Mushfiq.

But in the end, the Tigers could not draw the match despite fighting hard. In the end, the innings of the hosts stopped with 205 runs. Shakib top-scored for the team in the second innings as well, he made 63 runs, and Mehidy scored 14 runs. For Pakistan, Sajid Khan also took the maximum number of 4 wickets in the 2nd innings. Besides, Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali took 2 wickets each, and Babar Azam took 1 wicket.

Sajid Khan became the Player of the Match by taking a total of 12 wickets in two innings and Abid Ali became the Player of the series.
