Cricket Highlights, 07 Aug: BAN vs AUS (4th T20I), ENG vs IND (1st Test– Day 4)

The 4th T20I of the 5-match series between Australia and Bangladesh and the 4th day of the 1st Test between England and India rolled on the field yesterday. Let’s have a glimpse at the article to know about the interesting happenings of the games.

BAN vs AUS (4th T20I)

Australia won the fourth match of the five-match T20I series against Bangladesh by 3 wickets at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Saturday. The Aussies have got a triumph for the first time in this series with this win.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the hosts lost 4 wickets to collect 51 runs in 11 overs. They then tried to get back in the match but were bowled out on 104 for 9 at the end of the allotted 20 overs, thanks to the Aussie bowlers Andrew Tye and Mitchell Swepson. Opener Mohammad Naim scored the highest 28 runs for the Tigers. Mitchell Swepson and Andrew Tye took the most number of 3 wickets for the visitors. Josh Hazlewood took 2 wickets and Ashton Agar took 1 wicket.

Australia got off to a great start by batting for an easy target of 105 runs. Aussie all-rounder Dan Christian hit five sixes in an over off Shakib Al Hasan to take the team to 45 for the loss of 1 in four overs. But then the visitors’ rhythm fell again. In the extraordinary bowling of the Tigers, the Aussies lost 6 wickets for 65 runs and started to drop out of the match.

Later, Ashton Agar (27) and Ashton Turner (9*) put on 34 runs for the seventh wicket partnership and brought them back into the game. At the end of the innings with 6 balls left, Australia lost 7 wickets and reached the port of victory. Dan Christian scored the highest score of 39 runs playing 15 balls with 1 four and 5 sixes for the Aussies. Mustafizur Rahman and Mahedi Hasan took the highest number of 2 wickets each for the hosts.

ENG vs IND (1st Test – Day 4)

On the fourth day of the match on Saturday, England started the day with 25 runs without losing any wickets. Even then they were behind by 70 runs. In their second innings on the fourth day, England stopped at 303 runs. India has a target of 209 runs. At the end of the day, India collected 52 runs for 1 wicket.

As in the first innings, captain Joe Root fought alone for England and this was replicated in the second innings also. He scored 109 off 172 balls and scored the 21st Test century of his career. Besides, none of the others could make their innings bigger.

Sam Curran, Jonny Bairstow, Dominic Sibley got out scoring 32, 30, and 28 runs respectively. Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets giving away 64 runs which is the sixth fifer of his career. He snapped up 4 wickets in the first innings. Bumrah took 9 wickets in a total in two innings.

In the last session of the day, India lost the wicket of KL Rahul, the hero of the first innings. Rahul has made 26 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara (12) and Rohit Sharma (12) are unbeaten. On the last day of the match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, India took the field with a target of 157 runs with 9 wickets in hand.
