Cricket Highlights, 06 Aug: BAN vs AUS (3rd T20I), ENG vs IND (1st Test– Day 3)

The 3rd T20I of the 5-match series between Bangladesh and Australia and the 3rd day of the 1st Test between England and India rolled on the field yesterday. Let’s have a glimpse at the article to know about the interesting happenings of the games.

BAN vs AUS (3rd T20I)

Defending the lowest run in their history at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Friday, Bangladesh beat Australia by 10 runs to win for the third time in a row in the five-match T20I series. Also, for the first time, the Tigers have achieved the glory of winning a series against the Aussies in any format.

Bangladesh elected to bat first after winning the toss. They lost the first 2 wickets to score only 3 runs. They could make only 28 runs at the end of 6 overs of power play. The Tigers’ captain Mahmudullah held on one end of the wicket even though the Bangladesh batsmen were in procession of coming to the crease and returning to the pavilion due to the Aussies’ great bowling. Thanks to his patient innings of 52 runs from 53 balls, Bangladesh could make 127 runs by losing 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Aussie pacer Nathan Ellis (3-34, 4 overs) has become the first bowler to pick up a hat-trick in his debut match in T20I cricket, taking three wickets in a row in the last overs of the innings. Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa also took two wickets each for the visitors.

Batting for an easy target of 128 runs, Australia lost 1 wicket in 13 overs and picked up 69 runs. Even then they needed 59 runs from 42 balls and 9 wickets in hand to win. But the Aussies were knocked out of the match by the hosts’ impeccable bowling. In the end, Shakib, Mustafiz, Nasum, and Shoriful’s great bowling cannon scalped up 4 wickets of the visitors’ in 20 overs and their innings stopped at 117 runs.

Mitchell Marsh played the highest innings of 51 runs from 47 balls for the Aussies. For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam took 2 wickets and Shakib and Nasum took 1 wicket each. Besides, cutter master Mustafizur Rahman bowled a great spell (0-9, 4 overs). The two teams will face each other at the same venue at the same time in the fourth match of the series today.

ENG vs IND (1st Test – Day 3)

At the end of the rain-interrupted second day, India scored 125 runs for 4 wickets. They added another 153 runs on the third day on Friday. Whose big credit goes to the tail-ender batsmen. KL Rahul, who was unbeaten on 57 the previous day, returned to the pavilion with 84 runs.

Then Ravindra Jadeja picked up his half-century. An innings of 56 runs came from his bat. Besides, Rishabh Pant’s 25, Jasprit Bumrah’s 28, and Mohammed Shami’s 13 gave India a 95-run lead. Ollie Robinson took 5 wickets conceding 86 runs for England. James Anderson took 4 wickets for 54 runs.

England’s two openers Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley did not allow any danger to happen after coming down to play towards the end of the day. Burns is unbeaten scoring 11 and Sibley is not out with 9 runs.
