Cricket Highlights, 04 Nov: ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (Match 34 & 35)

The 34th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 between Australia and Bangladesh and the 35th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 between West Indies and Sri Lanka rolled on the field yesterday.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 34 (Australia vs Bangladesh)

In the 34th match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, Australia got a huge victory of 8 wickets with 82 balls in hand against Bangladesh courtesy of Adam Zampa’s great spell at Dubai International Stadium. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh was bowled out for 73 in 15 overs by the Aussie bowlers.

For the Tigers, Shamim Hossain played the best innings of 19 off 18 balls. Mohammad Naim scored 17, and Mahmudullah scored 16 runs. Besides, no other batsman on the team could make a double-digit score. Adam Zampa took the highest number of 5 wickets, conceding 19 runs in 4 overs for the Aussies. Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc took two wickets and Glenn Maxwell took one wicket each.

Batting for an easy target of 74 runs, Australia lost 2 wickets in just 6.2 overs and reached the port of victory. Captain Aaron Finch top-scored with 40 off 20 balls hitting 2 fours and 4 sixes. David Warner also scored 18 off 14 balls, and Mitchell Marsh played 16 off 5 balls innings. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam took one wicket each for the Tigers.

After winning this match, Australia has risen to 2nd place in the points table of Group 1 in Super 12. On the other hand, Bangladesh has left the tournament at the bottom of the points table with their 5th consecutive defeat.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 35 (West Indies vs Sri Lanka)

In the day’s second match, Sri Lanka picked up a great 20-run victory over defending champions West Indies at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. After losing the toss and being sent to bat first, Sri Lanka lost just 3 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and put up a huge collection of 189 runs.

Charith Asalanka played 68 runs off 41 balls with 8 fours and 1 six for the Lankans. Besides, Pathum Nissanka scored 51 off 41 balls, Kusal Perera scored 29 off 21 balls and Dasun Shanaka scored 25 off 14 balls. Andre Russell took the most number of 2 wickets for the Caribbeans and Dwayne Bravo took 1 wicket each.

Chasing a huge target of 190, the Sri Lankan bowlers bowled brilliantly, the West Indies lost six wickets in the allotted 20 overs and their innings ended at 169 runs. Shimron Hetmyer scored the highest unbeaten 81 off 54 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Besides, wicket-keeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran made 46 off 34 balls. For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Binura Fernando and Chamika Karunaratne scalped two wickets each. Similarly, Dushmantha Chameera took 1 wicket.

After winning this match, Sri Lanka has risen to the 4th position in the points table of Group 1 in Super 12. On the other hand, the defeated West Indies are in 5th place in the points table.
