BAN vs NZ (2nd T20I)

Hosts Bangladesh won the second match of the five-match T20I series against visiting New Zealand by 4 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday. The hosts went ahead 2-0 in the series.

After winning the toss and bat first, Tiger opener Mohammad Naim and Liton Das put on 59 runs in the opening partnership. Later, Liton (33) and Naim (39) returned to the dressing room, and captain Mahmudullah took the team’s helm. In the end, he played a great inning remaining unbeaten on 37 playing 32 balls and gave a fighting capital of 141 runs to the team that lost 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Rachin Ravindra took the highest number of 3 wickets for the Kiwis.

Chasing the target of 142 runs, the Black Caps lost 2 wickets to collect 18 runs. The Kiwis then returned to the match with a 43-run stand between captain Tom Latham and Will Young. But when Young (22) returned to the dressing room, no one could give Latham a worthy accompaniment in the bowling cannon of the Bangladeshi bowlers. As a result, the visitors lost 5 wickets in 20 overs at the fall of wickets on regular intervals and the visitors’ innings ended with 137 runs.

Latham played a brave inning of unbeaten 65 off 49 balls with 6 fours and 1 six for the Kiwis. Mahedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan took the maximum number of 2 wickets each for Bangladesh. Besides, Nasum Ahmed took 1 wicket.

ENG vs IND (4th Test – Day 2)

England, who lost 3 to score 53 at the end of the first day, took to the field on the second day with Dawid Malan (26) and Craig Overton (1) at the crease. But shortly after the start of the game, Indian pacer Umesh Yadav picked up the wickets of Overton (1) and Malan (31).

England was struggling after losing 5 wickets for 62 runs. From there, Ollie Pope brought the hosts back to the fight. Pope made 89 for the sixth wicket with Jonny Bairstow and 71 for the seventh wicket with Moeen Ali. Bairstow was the victim of Mohammed Siraj scoring 37, Moeen gave away his wicket to Ravindra Jadeja after picking up 35 runs.

Later, Pope returned to the pavilion with an individual 81 runs after being bowled by Shardul Thakur. England was bowled out for 290, courtesy of Chris Woakes’ 50 off 60 balls. The hosts got a lead of 99 runs with these decent performances. For India, Umesh Yadav took the most number of 3 wickets. Besides, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each.

Batting in their second innings, India finished the second day with 43 runs for the loss of no wickets. Rohit Sharma is unbeaten on 20 and KL Rahul on 22. India is still 56 runs behind England.
