SL vs WI (2nd Test – Day 3)

West Indies cricket team lost one wicket at the end of the first day and scored 69 runs. They came to the field on the morning of the third day with Kraigg Brathwaite (22) and Nkrumah Bonner (1) at the crease. On the 2nd wicket, these two made a pair of 75 runs. Shai Hope came to the wicket when Bonner returned to the dressing room after falling victim to Ramesh Mendis after scoring 35 runs.

After a while, captain Brathwaite (72) was bowled by Lasith Embuldeniya and returned to the pavilion. After that, no other batsman could survive on the wicket for long in the whirlwind magic of the Lankan spinners. Shai Hope (22), Roston Chase (10), Veerasammy Permaul (15) returned to the pavilion after playing short innings.

However, Kyle Mayers continued to fight alone on the other side of the wicket. In the end, he left the field unbeaten on 36 runs. The visitors got all out scoring 253 in their first innings. For Sri Lanka, Ramesh Mendis took the highest number of 6 wickets for 70 runs. Besides, Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama took two wickets each.

Trailing by 49 runs, Sri Lanka came down to bat in their second innings and ended the third day’s game with 46 runs for the loss of two wickets in 21 overs. Dimuth Karunaratne (6) and Oshada Fernando (14) both got run out and returned to the dressing room. Pathum Nissanka will start the fourth day’s game for Sri Lanka standing on 21 and Charith Asalanka on 4.
