In the 6th match of CPL 2022, Barbados Royals cruised to an 11-run win by DLS method over St Lucia Kings courtesy of Kyle Mayers’ superb all-round performance at Warner Park in Basseterre. Kyle Mayers was adjudged the player of the match after scoring 36 runs off 23 balls with the bat and taking the highest number of 4 wickets with 4 runs in 2 overs.
At the start of the match, St Lucia Kings captain Faf du Plessis opted to field the toss and put the Barbados Royals to bat. Barbados Royals collected a fighting score of 162 runs after losing 7 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.
The two openers of Barbados Royals, Kyle Mayers, and Rahkeem Cornwall got off to a flying start after coming down to bat. They both made a partnership of 49 runs off 28 balls. Rahkeem scored 32 runs off 17 balls with 5 fours and 1 six before getting dismissed. Mayers was then paired with wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock. They made a pair of 27 runs for the 2nd wicket.

Besides, Jason Holder scored 15 off 15 balls and Joshua Bishop scored 10 runs off 3 balls. Mark Deyal, Alzarri Joseph, and Scott Kuggeleijn were the top wicket-takers picking up 2 wickets each, and David Wiese picked up 1 wicket for St. Lucia Kings.

Then captain Du Plessis and Alzarri Joseph tried to bring the team back into the match. They scored 91 runs in 9 overs without losing any wickets. But after that, it rained in the game. As a result, not a single ball could be bowled on the field. In the end, Barbados Royals left the field with a victory of 11 runs with the help of the DLS system. Du Plessis remained unbeaten on 47 off 20 balls and Joseph on 29 off 18 balls.
Barbados Royals have won two consecutive matches including this match and are at 2nd place in the points table. On the other hand, Saint Lucia Kings are now at the bottom of the points table after losing two matches in a row.
