Two-time champions Comilla Victorians have named Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, and Sunil Narine in the squad for the upcoming edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 tournament. Lotus Group-owned The Victorians are the champions of the last edition of the BPL and ready to return in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali have played in the last Abu Dhabi T10 League at Zayed Stadium. On the other hand, Sunil Narine last played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the second round of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Nafisa Kamal, the Managing Director of the Comilla team, has confirmed that her team has picked du Plessis, Narine, and Moeen for the upcoming BPL season.
The Victorians won the title for the first time in 2015-16 by defeating the Barisal Bulls by three wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. In the 2018-19 edition, they beat Rangpur Riders by 57 runs in the final to become the champions for the second time.
This year’s BPL is scheduled for about a month, from January 20 to February 20. However, it is clashing with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) schedules, which start on January 27.
However, BPL Governing Council member Sheikh Sohel said the BCB is not worried about the PSL, and the BPL’s governing council was trying its best to organize a players’ draft this month. But they are concerned about the Covid-19 situation.
The BCB had earlier said that there would be six franchises in the BPL, and three foreign players could be taken in each team. However, teams like Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders, and Dhaka Dynamites withdrew their names due to one-year contracts.
