In international cricket, the Bangladesh cricket team is currently touring Zimbabwe for Test, ODI, and T20 bilateral series. The only Test match of the series was won by the visiting team Bangladesh. The three-match ODI series between the two teams is going to start tomorrow. Each of these matches will be held at Harare Sports Club (Harare). The first match will be played tomorrow (July 16) and the next two matches will be played on July 18 and 20, respectively. There are also three T20I matches on this tour, which are going to take place at the same venue on the 22nd, 23rd, and 25th of July.
Since 1997, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh have met in a total of 75 ODIs. Where Bangladesh has won 47 and Zimbabwe has won 28 matches of them. The last time the two teams met was in March 2020 in an ODI series in Bangladesh. In that three-match series, Zimbabwe was whitewashed by the hosts. Zimbabwe played their last three-match ODI series against hosts Pakistan, where they lost the series 2-1 against Pakistan.
Bangladesh won their last ODI series 2-1 against visiting Sri Lanka. However, out of the last 5 ODI series, Bangladesh has won 3 series. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, has won just one of their last 5 ODI series, which was against the UAE.
So statistically and due to the success of winning the ODI series at home and abroad, the players of the Bangladesh team have now become strong with an abundance of confidence. So they will try their best to make the series memorable.
Note that Bangladesh is ranked 7th and Zimbabwe is ranked 13th in the ICC ODI rankings. Besides, Bangladesh is currently ranked second in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League points table. Where Zimbabwe is at 13th place. So, Zimbabwe has to work hard in this series to build a solid position in the points table.
