Bangladesh’s Tamim Iqbal eyes Test series against Pakistan for a comeback in international cricket

Bangladesh’s home series against Pakistan is going to start on November 19, where there are 2 Test matches after the 3-match T20I series. It was expected that Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal would return to the field for the national team with the first match of the T20I series. However, Tamim himself told the media that he wanted to return to competitive cricket with the Test series.

Despite recovering from a knee injury, Tamim withdrew from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Then he went to play in the Everest Premier League (EPL) held in Nepal. However, while playing there, he injured the thumb of his left hand again. He will get down to the field with the bat as soon as the rehabilitation process is over after recovering from that injury.

Tamim said that he had met the BCB medical team, and they had advised him to bat against spin from November 7 and then conduct a complete batting session. So now he is also planning to play in the National Cricket League (NCL).

He added that the finger injury has not yet fully healed. However, he has completed the 3-week rehabilitation process, and there is still one more week left. Then he can start batting.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Akram Khan stated that the Bangladesh national team camp will start from November 12 after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Tamim is not in the camp as he is going to play in the NCL, which starts on November 14. However, he may be seen in the team for the first Test to be held in Chattogram on the 26th of November.

Tamim had earlier missed the T20I series at home against Australia and New Zealand in August-September due to a knee injury. Tamim last played for the Bangladesh national team in a T20I match in March last year. Since then, this dashing opener has been missing one series after another for the Tigers for various reasons.
