Bangladesh lost four wickets for 105 runs and started the third day’s play by trailing the visitors by 304 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun made a good start coming to play on the day. Mushfiqur had been picking up boundaries on bad balls since the beginning of the day. The batsman picked up the 22nd half-century of his career off 89 balls with a single pushing the Cornwall delivery to mid-on. Mithun (15) was caught by Brathwaite on the short mid-wicket off Cornwall in the 10th over of the day.
After a short while, Mushfiqur caught 54 runs by Kyle Mayers on the short cover finding an edge of the bat while playing a reverse sweep bending on Cornwall’s knee. Then Liton Das and Mehidy Miraz teamed up at the crease. The host was losing six wickets before the lunch break with 181 runs.
Returning from the break, the two batsmen put on a partnership of 126 runs. They left the West Indies bowlers struggling on the field. Liton Das hit a boundary off Nkrumah Bonner and picked up the seventh fifty of his career facing 92 balls. Then Mehidy Miraz got another half-century with 112 balls. Bangladesh went to the tea break with 272 runs for six wickets.
Coming from the break, the hosts collapsed like a house of cards. Liton couldn’t save his wicket despite taking the review after being caught by Blackwood in the ball of Cornwall. In the same over, Cornwall picked up his second fifth wicket haul in Test cricket by sending off the new batsman Nayeem. Liton Das made 71 runs off 133 balls with seven fours. The Tigers lost four wickets for 15 runs in the last five overs. Mehidy scored 56 runs before being caught by Brathwaite off Shannon Gabriel.
Rahkeem Cornwall (5-74, 32 overs), Shannon Gabriel (3-70, 21 overs), and Alzarri Joseph (2-60, 17.5 overs) took the wickets for West Indies.
While coming to bat for their second innings, West Indies batsman fell apart losing 3 wickets scoring 41 runs which happened due to the spin magic of Taijul, Mehidy, and Nayeem. These three spinners have taken one wicket each. At the end of the day, the visitors are ahead of the hosts by 154 runs putting on 41 runs on the board losing three wickets. Nkrumah Bonner (8*) and Jomel Warrican (2*) are on the wicket now to start the play of the fourth day.
