The cricketers will go down to the domestic league before the end of the international schedule. The current schedule of Bangladesh cricket is exactly like this. Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is scheduled to start from January 6. Now the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially announced the final schedule of the ninth edition of this franchise-based Twenty20 tournament. The schedule was published in a notification on Saturday.
According to the final schedule, BPL will go down on February 17 after going up on January 6. Chittagong Challengers and Sylhet Strikers will fight the opening match of this season. This year’s BPL will also start at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. However, this tournament will be held in two other venues. BPL will go to the port cities of Chittagong and Sylhet in two phases.
However, the tournament’s final phase will also be held in Dhaka. This year two matches will be held every day. The first match will start at 2 PM and the second at 7 PM. However, there will be a slight change in schedule on the weekend Friday. The first match will start at 2:30 PM and the second at 7:30 PM. Except for half an hour delay, everything else will be the same in all the matches.
Meanwhile, the BPL Governing Council has informed that a reserve day has been kept for every match after the league stage. Consequently, in the event of interruption of matches in Eliminators, Qualifiers and Finals due to weather, reserve days will be used. But how technologically modern is this season. Nothing has been reported about it so far.
There has been no less controversy about BPL in the past seasons. Many teams have been accused of not paying players properly. Meanwhile, this time BCB has a close eye. The board also said that the board officials are aware that such controversy does not arise. On the other hand, broadcasting quality has also been repeatedly questioned. Bangladesh Cricket Board is trying to keep controversy free.
In the previous seasons, there were various arrangements for the opening ceremony of BPL. Many attempts have been made to make the event glamorous by the participation of Bollywood stars. However, the board did not give any advance idea about what will happen this time. Although BPL was considered a platform for selecting players for Bangladesh’s T20 format, no cricketer has emerged. Rather, questions have been raised about the quality of BPL at various times. Leaving all controversies behind, BCB wants to organize a standard BPL. But how much it will be possible with various limitations is now the question of crores of rupees.
