The month of Ramadan is a month of holiness for Muslims. During this month, believers abstain from eating and drinking during the day. The significance of this month carries a special significance for Muslims. Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s three formats, took part in a drink advertisement last Ramadan. Babar wanted to leave the shooting spot after being asked to break his fast by taking part in a Pepsi ad sponsored by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Babar’s teammate and Pakistan national cricket team cricketer Mohammad Rizwan recently raised the issue with the media. Rizwan said the people-in-charge asked Babar to drink during the shooting. Angered by this, Babar wanted to leave the shooting site.
Describing the incident that day, Rizwan said, “He (Babar) had to accept a sacrifice. He was shooting an ad, where he was asked to do a strange thing. During Ramadan and was shooting an ad for Pepsi, and the management asked him to drink during that ad. He does not do them directly.”
Babar also threatened to leave the Pepsi ad. He said he would give up advertising, but he would not do that. When one can turn down such a great offer for one’s faith, it surely proves one’s greatness.
