Babar Azam surpasses Virat Kohli in ICC rankings across all the formats of cricket

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has left Virat Kohli behind in the ICC batting rankings across all three formats. Earlier in the ODIs and T20s, he overtook the Indian Test captain, he has got the stature this time in Test cricket as well.

Kohli has slipped two steps behind in the ICC rankings of Test batsmen. As Kohli’s foot slipped and followed Babar, Babar naturally got a step improvement in the rankings.

Kohli is now at number 9 in the rankings of Test batsmen with 747 rating points. There are chances that this time he could be knocked out of the top ten. However, with 750 rating points, Babar is at number 8. Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne is at the top of the Test batting rankings with 915 ratings. Joe Root is in second place(900 rating points). Kane Williamson is at number three (rating 879).

It is to be mentioned that Babar is occupying the top position in the ODI batting rankings with 873 rating points. Kohli is in second place with 844 rating points. Besides, his teammate Rohit Sharma is in 3rd place with 813 ratings. On the other hand, Babar is in second place with 805 rating points in the T20I batting rankings. England’s Dawid Malan is in first place with equal rating points. Kohli has dropped out of the top ten. He is now at number 11 (rating 657).

Among Indian batsmen, KL Rahul has made an unprecedented improvement in the Test batting rankings. Thanks to Centurion’s century, he has jumped 18 steps ahead and is at number 31 in the rankings.

Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim has moved up two steps in the Test batting rankings. He is now ranked 19th. Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal moved down one step each. They are ranked 32nd and 33rd respectively. Although, the ranking of Bangladesh batsmen has been determined by excluding the Test victory of Mount Maunganui against the Kiwis. Later, the ICC may publish a ranking list based on Bangladesh’s victory.
