Shane Warne was one of the best legends of Australia and world cricket. He has won many awards, honors and fans’ love in his playing career. Meanwhile, in 2006, the Australian Test Cricketer of the Year award was won by this former leg spinner. But he is no longer alive. However, to show respect for Warne, the Aussie Cricket Board has made arrangements so that he remains in the minds of cricket lovers. The Australian Cricket Board has launched an award in Warne’s name to perpetuate his memory.

Australia has changed the name of the “Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year” award, which has been given for so long, to “Shane Warne Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year”. The name was officially announced on the first day of the ongoing Boxing Day Test in historic Melbourne by Nick Hockley, chief executive of the country’s cricket board, and Todd Greenberg, chief executive of the Cricketers’ Association.

Cricket Australia feels that such a great legend deserves this honor. That is why the award is named after Warne. In this context, Hockley said, “Warne has given a lot to the country, he deserved such a recognition. We have given him that now. He is one of the best of all time. His achievements and contribution to cricket are unforgettable. Now that contribution has been honored for life. Hopefully Warne will be happy sitting in eternity.”

Only those who receive it know how prestigious is it in an elite cricketing nation like Australia. The “Alan Border Medal” is considered to be the highest award in the cricket category in the country, as the man of the year. After that there is Test cricket. That is, second in terms of prestige is the “Shane Warne Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year” award.

The three Aussie cricketers who can get this award this year are – Marnus Labuschagne, Usman Khawaja and Nathan Lion. All the three have spread light in white clothes with the bat and ball throughout the year. But we have to wait to see who will get this award! The name of the winner will be announced on January 30. Note that Travis Head won this award last year.
