Adelaide Strikers’s Suzie Bates ruled out of WBBL 2020 due to shoulder injury

Adelaide Strikers’s Suzie Bates ruled out of WBBL 2020 due to shoulder injury

In the ongoing WBBL 2020, Suzie Bates was one of the most talked-about cricketers. The all-rounder will undergo a shoulder surgery, according to recent media reports. She will also miss the remainder of WBBL 2020.

In the Adelaide Strikers’s match against Melbourne Stars, Suzie Bates had to leave the field due to feeling pain in her right shoulder. Earlier, Suzie Bates had suffered a shoulder injury when playing for New Zealand in the one-day series against Australia in October.

The medical manager of New Zealand Cricket, Dayle Shackel, had a consultation session with the franchise’s medical staff, and surgery was deemed to be the best option. Suzie Bates will fly back to New Zealand and will undergo the procedures prescribed. The updates were confirmed by Suzie Bates and pointed out that she would take one step at a time. The first goal will be successful surgery, and recovery and return would follow.

She further disclosed that there is also the carrot of playing in the Women’s World Cup in 2022 at home to keep her motivated across the process.

She added that recovery time will be about 6-9 months and she was aiming to undergo surgery in mid of December after her quarantine ends. It is interesting to note that there has been an injury to Sophie Devine as well. She’s slated to miss the match against Perth Scorchers. When Sophie Devine’s team won against Sydney Thunder on Sunday, she suffered a back injury. After her injury came into play while she was bowling, Sophie Devine looked in extreme discomfort.
