Mumbai Indians (MI) have got a win by a huge margin of 5 wickets with 31 balls to spare by the extraordinary bowling performance of the bowlers against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 59th match of IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. With this victory of MI, CSK’s departure from the group stage of this year’s IPL as the second team has been confirmed.
After winning the toss, MI captain Rohit Sharma decided to field sending CSK to bat first. CSK fell into a catastrophe from the very beginning due to the aggressive bowling of MI’s bowlers. They lost 3 wickets for just 5 runs.
Devon Conway and Moeen Ali got back with zero runs and Robin Uthappa returned with one run. After that Ruturaj Gaikwad left the crease scoring 7 runs. After that, captain MS Dhoni fought alone for CSK.
Dhoni remained unbeaten on 36 off 33 balls smashing 4 fours and 2 sixes; But on the other end, no batter could play well. As a result, they could not score even 100 runs. Ambati Rayudu made and Shivam Dube both made 10 runs while 12 runs came from Dwayne Bravo’s bat.

Coming down to chase an easy target of 98 runs, MI reached the victory port after losing 5 wickets in 14.5 overs. However, in the beginning, Ishan Kishan and Daniel Sams lost their wickets and the MI team fell in some danger. Ishan Kishan made 6 and Daniel Shams made 1 run and returned to the dressing room.
Tristan Stubbs, who replaced Kieron Pollard in the squad, was dismissed without a run. Rohit Sharma scored 18 runs. After that, Tilak Varma and Hrithik Shokeen did not allow any more danger to happen. The duo put together a 48-run stand for the fifth wicket.
Hrithik returned to the pavilion with 18 runs but Tilak Varma remained unbeaten with 34 runs off 32 balls. Tim David also remained unbeaten playing a short but smart innings of 16 off 7 balls. In the end, MI’s innings stopped with 103 runs for 5 wickets.
For CSK, Mukesh Choudhary took the maximum number of 3 wickets with 23 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Simarjeet Singh and Moeen Ali took 1 wicket each.
Mumbai Indians are at the bottom of the points table after taking part in 12 matches, they have managed to bag 6 points from 3 wins. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings are now in 9th position after winning 4 games and getting defeated on 8 occasions playing 12 matches.
