Lucknow managed to post a healthy total of 209 runs despite lacking a strong finish from their lower-order batters. 3. Poor performance from the Spinners
The pitch offered a lot of assistance to the spinners of Delhi Capitals in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel were economical and conceded runs at less than 6 runs per over. Kuldeep Yadav also picked two crucial wickets for Rishabh Pant and Ayush Badoni. Unlike them, LSG spinners failed to make the most of the assistance from the pitch. The leg-spinning duo of Ravi Bishnoi and Digvesh Singh conceded 84 runs off their 8 overs. Lucknow Supergiants once looked set to cross the 230 runs mark while Mitchel Marsh and Nicholas Puran smashed Delhi bowlers all over the park. However, their departure in quick succession required the lower-middle-order finishers to end the innings on a high note. David Miller was the only one who appeared to carry out his role; however, with little to no support from Ayush Badoni, Shardul Thakur and Shahbaz Ahmed, the proteas star could only switch strikes for most of the final overs. Lucknow managed to score only 76 runs in the last 8 overs, a testimony to their poor finishing.
