The 4th match of IPL 2025 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Visakhapatnam turned out to be a nail-biting encounter as DC secured a stunning one-wicket victory in a high-scoring clash.

Winning the toss, Delhi Capitals opted to bowl first. During the powerplay, Lucknow Super Giants came out aggressively, targeting DC’s premier pacer, Mitchell Starc. LSG raced to 64/1 in six overs, losing Aiden Markram for 15 runs. Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran then decimated DC’s bowling attack. At the halfway mark, LSG stood at a formidable 117/1.

However, DC clawed back into the game with two crucial wickets. Marsh’s breathtaking 72 off 36 balls was cut short, and soon after, captain Rishabh Pant endured a six-ball duck. Pooran kept the scoreboard ticking with a quickfire 75 off just 30 balls but fell soon after, leaving LSG at 169/4 in 14.5 overs. In the last five overs, DC bowlers turned the tide, conceding just 39 runs while picking up four wickets. LSG finished at a commanding 209/8, with Mitchell Starc claiming 3 wickets.

They ended the powerplay at 58/4, losing key players Jake Fraser-McGurk (1), Abishek Porel (0), Sameer Rizvi (4), and captain Axar Patel (22). Faf du Plessis tried to stabilize the innings with a brisk 29 off 18 balls but departed at 65/5.

A crucial 40+ partnership between Tristan Stubbs (34) and Ashutosh Sharma revived DC’s hopes. Vipraj Nigam’s blistering cameo of 39 off 15 balls further shifted momentum. With Ashutosh Sharma (66* off 31) holding his nerves batting with tailenders, as a result, DC clinched victory with just one wicket remaining, pulling off a remarkable chase to stun LSG.
