IPL 2025: 3 things Rajasthan Royals will look to improve from last year

IPL 2025: 3 things Rajasthan Royals will look to improve from last year

The inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals will be eyeing their long-awaited second IPL title after a long wait of 18 years with a win in the upcoming IPL 2025. The franchise also made some changes in their squad while picking the players in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Sanju Samson-led side made it to the knockouts of the tournament last year in IPL 2024 but couldn’t succeed further into the final. So, they will look ahead to better their performance this year and clinch the title.

3 things that the Rajasthan Royals will look to improve from last year.

Middle-Order needs to step up

Earlier in the previous edition of the tournament, the Royals had a good top order in skipper Sanju Samson, former opener Jos Buttler and the young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. But this year, Jos Buttler will be missing from this trio, leaving Samson and Jaiswal for the opening duties.

It also transliterated into the fact that the middle-order batters, including Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer, will have to step up to help the team post a big total. The middle-order will also include wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, whose batting form will be vital for the Royals.

Consistency in Performance

Sanju Samson’s men had an amazing start last year in IPL 2024, winning eight out of their first nine games. But then came a serious downfall in their performance, and they hardly made it to the knockouts after facing four consecutive defeats in their last four games.

So, maintaining consistency in their performance throughout the tournament will also be a crucial factor to keep an eye on, for the Rajasthan Royals while looking forward to finishing on high in the upcoming edition of the tournament.

A focus on bowling depth

Besides their strong batting attack in the top order and upper-middle order, Rajasthan Royals might have some concerns to address in their bowling attack. The lack of depth in the bowling attack was one of the major reasons that dented their winning consistency during the last edition of the tournament in 2024.

So, focusing on fielding the best bowling attack in the playing XI will be a very crucial decision to execute for both the captain and the team management. The bowling attack of the Royals in IPL 2025 will include, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Akash Madhwal, Kwena Maphaka and the veteran pacer Sandeep Sharma, alongside Maheesh Theekshana and Tushar Deshpande.
