There have been a lot of changes being made in the Pakistan Cricket Team’s management and staff ahead of the Tri-nation series with South Africa and New Zealand and the upcoming Champions Trophy as a new team manager has been appointed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which has created a lot of commotion.

The individual who has been appointed as the team manager is Hina Munawar who will be the first female team manager for Pakistan and is a police officer who has a strong background in security and operations. Munawar also served in the Frontier Constabulary in the high-risk SWAT area and will now be serving as the operations manager of the team while senior retired bureaucrat Naveed Akram Cheema will remain as the team manager.

This will also make her the first female team manager of the team. While some fans and experts have shown scepticism towards this decision by the PCB the board has shown a lot of confidence in Munawar. It is understood that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi brought Munawar into the board on deputation, as she remains part of the Police Service of Pakistan.

“Perhaps her appointment is aimed at streamlining operations within the team and between players and the board, as she has worked in strategic and leadership roles, helping to streamline various operations,” said a source close to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“She made history as the first female district officer in the Frontier Constabulary in Swat, breaking gender barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field,” the source added.

Pakistan’s tough schedule ahead

Pakistan will be playing a Tri-series where they will be playing against South Africa and New Zealand. The first match of the series for the hosts will be against New Zealand which will begin on the eighth of February against New Zealand at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the second match will be played against South Africa on the 12th of February at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Speaking of the Champions Trophy the team is placed in Group A with India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Pakistan will play their first game against New Zealand on the 19th of February and will be playing against arch-rivals India on the 23rd of February. The last group game they will play will be against Bangladesh on the 27th of February.
