The Lankan Lions and Asalanka will want to start well and make sure they win another series at home. Kusal Mendis

These three batters have been one of the best talents in the Sri Lankan team and there will be a lot of high expectations from them going forward as well. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis have already played some great knocks and Avishka Fernando has shown a lot of potential. It will not be surprising to see the three make the XI in the first ODI itself and go on to play some more iconic knocks.

Middle order:

Charith Asalanka

This is the perfect middle order for Sri Lanka where they get the technical prowess of Sadeera along with skipper Charith Asalanka and Kamindu Mendis adding some depth to the squad. Sadeera Samarawickrama has proven that he can play the responsible knock if needed and Asalanka and Mendis have shown in the past that they can play some handy knocks with the bat and bowl some decent spells if required to win games for their team.

Lower- middle order:

Dunith Wellalage

There is no doubt that Dunith Wellalage and Wanindu Hasaranga are brilliant spinners who can take wickets in different phases of the game but they have also proven that they are no mug with the bat as well. These two will have a big role to play in the match at Dambulla and will want to make it difficult for the Kiwi batters to get going in the first match itself. The Lankans will hope for some more amazing performances from them in the ODI series.

Tailenders-

Maheesh Theekshana

Maheesh Theekshana has been a reliable bowler for Sri Lanka and will have a job to do in the ODI Series as well. The pace options of Asitha Fernando and Madhushanka will also be needed with the new ball. This has so far been the most reliable bowling pace attack for Sri Lanka and we all hope that we get to see these three create havoc among the Kiwi batters.
